- The file
/usr/lpp/X11/defaults/xserverrc
should contain the line
EXTENSIONS=" -bs -d 24:mir0 -d 24:lai0 -d 24:mtn0 -d 24:mint0 -d 24:mojl0 -d 24:cor0 -d 24:son0"
to enable backing store and 24bit colours for special
graphics cards (here GXT2000P, GXT135P, GXT3000P, GXT550P, GXT4500 and GXT145 respectively), if installed.
Alternatively, on AIX versions supporting CDE, in /etc/dt/config/Xservers
:
:0 Local local@console /usr/lpp/X11/defaults/xserverrc -T -force :0 -bs -d 24:mir0 -d 24:lai0 -d 24:mtn0 -d 24:mint0 -d 24:mojl0 -d 24:cor0 -d 24:son0
Note that on AIX 3, the desktop has to be started manually
with the xinit
command.
- On AIX 4.1 with PEX/PHIGS / OpenGL installation
the file
/usr/lpp/X11/bin/dynamic_ext
should contain
pex /usr/lpp/X11/bin/loadPex
GLX /usr/lpp/OpenGL/bin/loadGL
gpshm /usr/lpp/graPHIGS/bin/loadgpshm
and the file /usr/lpp/X11/bin/static_ext
should contain
pex /usr/lpp/X11/bin/loadPex
-
/etc/X0.hosts
and /etc/X1.hosts
control the X-server access from other hosts.
Due to X-server problems
when the name server can't resolve the name of machines listed in these
files, they should contain only local machines.
This doesn't solve the
problem completely (because the local name server might be down as well) but at
least the more likely case of external network breakdown is excluded.
