Standard features for the POWERstation/POWERserver 220 are:
The integrated ethernet controller will attach to Thick Ethernet, for connection to twisted pair the Ethernet 10BaseT transceiver (#4244) is required, for connection to thin Ethernet the 10Base2 transceiver (#4223) is required.
The Ethernet 10BaseT Transceiver (twisted pair) (#4224) provides the complete Attachment Unit Interface (AUI) to a twisted pair LAN connection. It is connected to a 15-pin DIX Ethernet connection via a transceiver (AUI) cable and converts the signal to 10BaseT. The medium connection is made through an RJ-45 receptacle.
Features include:
The Ethernet 10Base2 Transceiver (thin cable, #4223) is compatible with Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 transceiver specifications and 10 Mbps Ethernet CSMA/CD operation, to provide a connection to thin Ethernet coaxial cable (10Base2). It is connected to a 15-pin DIX Ethernet connection via a transceiver (AUI) cable and converts the signal to 10Base2. The medium connection is made through a BNC coaxial connector.
Features include:
Specially-priced preconfigured models are available through ordering the standard model configurations defined below.
The entry workstation can operate in a LAN environment or, with a diskette drive, in a standalone environment. Customers can upgrade memory and disk capacity and choose a colour or monochrome display to enhance the workstation.
This model is appropriate for desktop publishing, CASE, student workstations, or other environments where low-cost RISC workstations are appropriate.
Specify POWERstation 22W to order the workstation. The standard features for the POWERstation 22W are the same as the POWERstation/POWERserver 220 with the following additional features:
__________
Note: The 160 MB fixed disk is for use in LAN environments, where the disk is used for paging, the 400 MB fixed disk is recommended for standalone environments.
Note: A diskette drive is required in a standalone environment for diagnostic purposes. In LAN environments one of the systems on the LAN must have a diskette drive.
Note: The POWER Gt1 is a low-priced 1-bit graphics frame buffer that attaches directly to the local processor I/O bus. It supports resolutions of 1280 x 1024 or 1024 x 768 and does not require a Micro Channel slot.
Characteristics:
Performance:
The performance values shown below were measured at the adapter hardware interface and do not include software overhead. The measurements were taken using the following test definition - 10 pixel randomly oriented vectors in screen co-ordinates written directly to the hardware interface.
2D Vectors - 200,000 vectors/second
The POWER Gt1 is standard in the POWERstation 22W.
The POWER Gt1 VRAM Upgrade is an optional feature that is installed on a POWER Gt1. This upgrade is factory- or field-installable. Up to two upgrades can be installed on a POWER Gt1. The POWER Gt1 is upgraded to a 4-bit graphics (16 gray shades or colours) frame buffer with the installation of a single VRAM Upgrade. The POWER Gt1 is upgraded to an 8-bit graphics (256 colours) frame buffer when a second VRAM Upgrade is installed.
This model is intended for customers using graphics applications such as CADAM or Entry Circuit Design.
