Additional Selectable Components:
Components and Configuration Following is a description of the components and configuration possibilities for 7248 RS/6000 43P Series Required Components: The initial order must contain the following selected from the available options. Based on the operating system selected, there may be certain recommendations and restrictions. Refer to the Operating Environment section for more detail.
Orders may not contain more components then will fit into five slots and five bays. The five slots are 3 ISA, 2PCI or ISA (Shared). Memory:
7248 RS/6000 43P Series can have memory configured up to 192 MB maximum with a minimum requirement of 16MB (parity). There are six memory SIMM connectors on the system board and memory SIMMs are required to be installed in pairs (there must be a minimum of 16 MB; two 8 MB memory SIMMs). Six memory SIMM connectors provide for an economical memory buildup for most users. If future expansion of memory is projected, the purchaser must balance cost/availability of memory SIMMs with potential/total system memory requirements (Example: Today, installing four 8 MB memory SIMMs might be less expensive than one 32 MB memory SIMM but there would only be two connectors remaining for future memory expansion, for a 96 MB maximum instead of 192 MB maximum, without replacing/discarding 8 MB memory SIMMs). Graphics Adapters The 7248 RS/6000 43P Series uses PCI-based graphics adapters and offers high performance for graphics intensive applications. The adapter choices depend upon the price/performance the user requires. IBM E15-type graphics is standard on the 7248 RS/6000 43P Series motherboard.
