Article Title : NCDs and ISDN Creation Date : 02/11/94 Message ID : CGLNHQ Last Update : 12/13/96 Expiration Rules : unknown Location : NCD-Articles/Networking ================================================================= NCD terminals can use ethernet or XRemote over ISDN. See the article in xremote_info for using XRemote. Tests of NCDs with ISDN units show that the NCDs perform best with the following setup. ISDN setup for remote site: NCD with a 10baseT card and 3.1.0 or later X Server PROMS or an NCD with an ESP card and a Flash Card for local booting. Host side ISDN interface combinet 400 unit with compression enabled. Remote NCD side ISDN interface combinet 150 unit with compression enabled. The Combinet 400 unit is a ISDN to ethernet bridge with a 10baseT and a 10base2 ethernet interface, the Combinet 150 unit is a ISDN to single ethernet interface bridge with only a 10baseT interface which will connect directly to a 10baseT interface on the NCD or to a 10baseT transceiver. So the bottom line is for the best performance at a remote location using ISDN you do not need XRemote, but you will need a PROM or Flash based NCD with a 10baseT interface connected to a Combinet 150 unit which will dial up a Combinet 400 unit that is connected to the ethernet.
