Article Title : Setting up a digitizer on an NCD X-terminal Creation Date : unknown Author : outside of NCD Last Update : January 19, 1993 Last Update By : NCD Technical Support Expiration Rules : Specific to 2.4.7 and the release of tcpcon. ============================================== Long Description:Setting up a digitizer on an NCD X-terminal Solution: ____________________________________________________________________________ Connecting a digitizer to an NCD X-Terminal: The X-Terminal is assumed to be running NCD88K 8-bit Color local clients server version 2.4.7 Note: This is important, because with this version, the auxilliary port has been identified as port address 87 by NCD. Go into the configuration file for the NCD and add the following line: seriald-tcp-port=87 Next, go into the setup menu for the NCD. Click on `Serial Parameters' Change `Use Port For' to Printer Daemon You must have the following files located on the host platform, and they must have been compiled for the host platform: nd tcpcon NOTE: Be sure these are the only versions on the host platform, or put in the path that points to the nd or tcpcon verison you want to run. To check where you are running nd and tcpcon from type `which nd`, and it will give you the path. Go to the directory which contains the nd and tcpcon files. Type the following: nd -\& -r tcpcon -l /dev/ptypf ferengi 87 Note: /dev/ptypf can be substituted for any legitimate device with the correct permissions, but do note that it is the pseudo device for ttypf. It must be the pseudo name for the device. ferengi is the node name of the x-terminal, and the IP address may be substituted here. 87 is the address for the auxilliary port on the x-terminal and must be 87 The nd command sets up a daemon to run the tcpcon. The tcpcon sets up the re-routing of /dev/ttypf to accept from ferengi's aux. port 87. This command runs in the background and must be killed to stop it. ______________________________________________________________________________ This setup was tested using a Drawingboard II on an NCD 19C x-terminal with the following host platforms: Sun Sparc 2, SunOS 4.1.2 IBM RISC 6000, AIX 3.2 DG Aviion, OS 5.4.1
