inutoc Error after Fixes Manually Copied to Hard Disk

Environment

OS Level: 4.2.1
Type/Model: 850

Problem

After the APAR IX77334 was copied to hard disk and inutoc was run, an error occurs.

More specifically, when the CD-ROM was mounted on /cdrom, cp /cdrom/* /usr/sys/inst.images was executed, and then inutoc was run, the following error appears:

inutoc: Warning. The installation package image in U456655.bff
has an unrecognized package type of "IP". This may indicate a
bad image or a new package type requiring a newer version of the
        installation commands.
The installation image was added to the .toc file anyway.

Solution

  1. Also copy the .toc from the /cdrom (not running inutoc on the hard disk).
  2. Use smitty bffcreate to copy the software to the hard disk.
