This document discusses the procedures for setting up Documentation Search
Service as your search service at AIX version 4.3.x.
docsearch launches the AIX Documentation Search Service global search
form into a Web browser window. Documentation
Search Service requires several elements to function correctly. Netscape 4.04 is
the recommended browser, and a
Web server will be necessary to serve the html based information files.

Accessing this documentation from the CD is discussed in "Chapter 7" of the Installation Guide. You can access the specific section at the following link: http://www.rs6000.ibm.com/doc_link/en_US/a_doc_lib/aixins/aixinsgd/inst_doc_search.htm#97newlms50

For AIX 4.3.0, you must access the documentation from the CD. At AIX 4.3.1, the documentation may be accessed from the CD or may be installed. The preceding URL also discusses accessing the Extended Documentation from the CD.
At AIX version 4.3.0, you can find Netscape 4.0.4 on a separate Netscape CD.
Netscape.nav.rte
At AIX version 4.3.1 and 4.3.2, you can find Netscape on the Bonus Pack CD.

Choose one of the following Web servers:
internet_server.base.admin internet_server.base.doc internet_server.base.httpd internet_server.java.jdk internet_server.msg.en_US.httpd internet_server.security.common.httpd internet_server.security.export.httpd
AIX Version 4.3.0, Netscape Fastrack can be found on the separate Netscape CD.
netscape.fasttrack-us.rte
AIX Version 4.3.1 and 4.3.2, Netscape Fastrack can be found on the Bonus Pack.
netscape.fasttrack.rte
IMNSearch.rte.httpdlite
After installing filesets that you need, configure the Web server using SMIT. Select System Environment then Internet and Documentation Services. (For the fastpath method, enter smitty web_configure or smit web_configure.)
Local-this computer
or
Remote computer
NOTE: If the filesets have been installed locally, choose Local-this computer.
After choosing Local-this computer, the entry fields should be populated with information specific to the Web server being used. Two examples follow:
Web server SOFTWARE Lotus Domino Go Webserver
DOCUMENT_SERVER_PORT = 80 CGI_DIRECTORY = /usr/lpp/internet/server_root/cgi-bin DOCUMENT_DIRECTORY = /usr/lpp/internet/server_root/pub
NOTE: The cgi-bin directory should have world executable permissions.
Web server SOFTWARE other local server or Lotus Domino go or IICS in non-default location
DOCUMENT_SERVER_PORT = 80 CGI_DIRECTORY = /var/docsearch/cgi-bin DOCUMENT_DIRECTORY = /usr/IMNSearch/httpdlite/pub
NOTE: The cgi-bin directory should have world executable permissions.
Additional instructions for the Httpdlite Web server:.
Exec /cgi-bin/* /usr/IMNSearch/httpdlite/cgi-bin/*
Pass /* /usr/IMNSearch/httpdlite/pub/*
If you chose Remote computer, enter in the fully qualified name of the remote host machine. The cgi-bin directory and the document directory will be set by that machine. You will need to verify the paths on the remote machine. Finally, you will need to reboot for the change to take effect.
You must execute docsearch from within a graphical environment, such as Xwindows or the Common Desktop Environment (CDE). Executing docsearch will open up a Netscape browser and display the Documentation Search Service form. The URL will appear as http://hostname/cgi-gin/ds_form.
To reach the command Reference page, the URL is http://hostname/doc_link/en_US/a_doc_lib/aixgen/topnav/topnav.htm
