Breadboard Overview

The picture above shows all components required to build a small 9V to 5V voltage converter used as power supply for prototyping breadboard. On the right side you can see the assembled circuit nicely fitted into five horizontal rows. In this setup 5V is provided to both top and bottom power supply lines of the breadboard.

Output …jumper pins are used for selecting the voltage levels

Two regulators …one for 5V …on for 3.3V
Built-in protection against short-circuit through power limiting circuitry
- …thermal overload protection circuitry …shutdown if junction temperature reach 165 °C
- …internal diode protection …can handle transient surge currents from 50 A to 100 A
