SYSKOMP-ID-BOX

PrevUp

The SYSKOMP-ID-BOX allows to mimick fixed hardware IDs associated with HP protected software. This is legal because still an HP license sheet with associated codewords is needed.
  1. Place the ID box in the HIL chain between computer and keyboard. A reboot might be necessary.
    For all input to the box the toggle switch must be in the "Learn" position. In this position the HIL chain is disconnected from the computer and thus the input will not be echoed on the screen. Input is terminated and some of the output may appear on the screen when the toggle switch is put back to "Normal".
  2. One may test some of the box' functions via
  3. To reuse an existing ID, set the toggle switch to "Learn" and enter the associated name. Switch back to "Normal".
  4. To enter a new ID, switch to "Learn" and enter one of these
    <name>=46084AyywwAnnnnn
    <name>:46084AyywwAnnnnn

    where <name> is a unique alphanumeric identifier.
    The input is terminated by switching back to "Normal".
    HP's naming convention of hardware IDs is as follows: 46084A denotes an HP ID-box, yy is the manufacturing year after 1960 (29 would be 1989), ww the week of that year, and nnnnn a running number.
