In between major releases of the operating system DEC issue "patches" to
correct problems as they occur. These patches, which are normally only
available from DEC as a result of a call for support, should only be
applied to your system if you have seen or are likely to see the problems that
they fix.
In order that you may foresee any possible problems the descriptions of
these patches are available from the central Remote Installation Server
- dxsoft as shown below:
#ftp dxsoft
#Name (dxsoft.xxxxx): anonymous
#Use your machine name as the password
#cd doc/patches
#ls (get directory listing)
#get nnnnnnnnn.README (copy required file)
#quit
The directory doc/patches contains the README files for the patches for
various versions of ULTRIX.
If, after having read the description, you decide that you require a certain
patch please send a mail to ultrixsp@dxcern.cern.ch explaining the
problem and specifying the patch required.
